Her Excellency Khawla Al Serkal is the Director General of Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC), a position she has held since 2015, having been with the club since 2005. Under her leadership, SLC has seen significant growth and development, becoming one of the region’s most prominent organizations dedicated to empowering women. H.E. Al Serkal’s career began after her graduation from the American University of Sharjah with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, specializing in marketing. She initially joined Dubai Municipality, where she worked in institutional marketing and later led the exhibitions unit. In 2005, she transitioned to Sharjah Ladies Club as the Assistant Marketing Manager, and her impressive leadership and vision led to her promotion to Director General in 2015, a role that recognizes her immense contributions to the club’s success.
Throughout her tenure, H.E. Al Serkal has been instrumental in expanding the club’s facilities, enhancing its programs, and strengthening its commitment to women’s development and wellbeing. A dedicated family woman, she balances her professional life with raising three daughters and supporting her husband, His Excellency Tariq Al Gurg, CEO of Dubai Cares.
In addition to her role at SLC, H.E. Al Serkal holds several other influential positions. She is the Vice Chairperson of the Sharjah Cultural and Chess Club and has been a Board Member of the Sharjah Children Centres and the Sharjah Sports Family Awards. She has also been actively involved in community initiatives, serving as Head of the Child Safety Campaign in 2010.
Her dedication and leadership have earned her various awards, including the Sheikha Jawaher Medal for Contribution and Excellence in 2014 and the “Emirati Women Achiever” award in 2015. H.E. Al Serkal’s commitment to social causes is also notable. In 2006, she was part of the organizing committee for Majida AlRoumi’s charity concert and supported the “Together for Lebanon” campaign to aid Lebanese citizens. Through her work, H.E. Khawla Al Serkal continues to inspire women and contribute to the community, both professionally and personally.
