Bhavna Nihalani’s journey with the International Apparel & Textile Fair (IATF) began with a vision to reduce the Middle East’s reliance on distant markets for textiles and apparel. Alongside her late husband, Dilip, she saw an opportunity to create a regional sourcing hub in Dubai where international suppliers could connect directly with local businesses. This vision became a reality in 2014 with the launch of IATF, which has since grown into the Gulf’s largest and most influential B2B fashion trade fair.
Convincing the industry to invest in an unproven platform was challenging, but Bhavna’s resilience and commitment helped build IATF’s credibility. What started with 50 exhibitors has now expanded to over 450, establishing IATF as a key destination for global fashion and textile trade.
Beyond its numbers, IATF represents a vital connection between regional demand and international supply. By bringing the world’s suppliers closer to the Gulf, the fair has strengthened Dubai’s position in the global fashion landscape, enabling local businesses to thrive. Bhavna continues to evolve IATF to meet industry trends, including launching a Fur Pavilion and encouraging sustainable practices among exhibitors.
Following the loss of her husband and co-founder, Bhavna’s mission to grow IATF became a personal testament to their shared vision. She sees the fair as more than a business—it’s a platform for empowerment, offering opportunities and mentorship to emerging entrepreneurs and young talent in the region.
Looking ahead, Bhavna aims to expand IATF’s influence into emerging markets and increase digital integration to enhance global connections.
