Aya Emam is a seasoned legal professional with over 14 years of experience in corporate law, mergers & acquisitions (M&A), regulatory compliance, intellectual property (IP), and governance. Currently serving as Group Senior Legal Counsel at Agthia PJSC, Aya leads the Water, Flour, and Feed portfolio, overseeing high-profile M&A transactions, post-acquisition integrations, and complex legal projects across multiple jurisdictions. She plays a pivotal role in ensuring legal, business, and functional compliance in a fast-growing, diverse business environment.
In addition to her extensive legal career, Aya is the Founder of LegIt, an innovative legal technology platform set to launch in 2025. The platform aims to bridge gaps in the legal market, enhancing client experience by combining Aya’s legal expertise with her passion for technological innovation. Aya is also pursuing a Master’s in Investment Management at Middlesex University, further complementing her strategic vision of integrating law with investment strategies.
Aya is passionate about giving back to the community and enjoys engaging in pro-bono public work. As a student leader and advocate for social causes, she has been actively involved in leadership roles, notably serving as a Student Leader Voice at Middlesex University Dubai campus. Additionally, she has volunteered as a mentor, offering guidance and support to fellow students, further enriching her commitment to leadership and mentorship.
Outside of her professional and academic pursuits, Aya enjoys sailing in her spare time and holds a Skipper License, reflecting her love for adventure and the outdoors.
Aya holds an LLB from Ain Shams University, Egypt, and a Private Law Diploma, and is a member of the Egyptian Bar. Fluent in Arabic and English, with proficiency in French, Aya is recognized for her contributions to international legal reform projects and her ability to navigate complex legal issues in multi-jurisdictional environments. She is known for her leadership in legal strategy, compliance, and risk management in high-growth business settings.
