At the forefront of the Gulf’s most prestigious aviation projects and as the first female Emirati aircraft engineer, Dr. Eng. Suaad Al Shamsi exemplifies resilience and dedication in an industry historically dominated by men. She encourages young women with her unshakable motto: “If you can dream it, you can achieve it.”
Driven by an early love for aviation, Suaad faced obstacles as she pursued her dreams. Initially redirected in higher education, she left university against her family’s wishes to work as a car mechanic, embracing her fascination with engines. Her persistence led to a scholarship, allowing her to finally study aviation engineering—her true calling.
Today, Suaad not only leads high-profile aviation projects but also inspires young Emirati women to pursue their passions. Balancing a demanding career with raising two sons, she continues to celebrate Emirati culture through her vibrant artwork, some of which has been displayed at the Louvre in Paris.
Outside of work, Suaad channels her love of speed as the proud owner of a Porsche 911, a powerful reminder of her journey from dreaming on her backyard lawn to holding the strength of 400 horsepower in her hands. Through her story, she lights the path for others to follow in her tracks.
