Nezha Hayat made history in 2016 when she became the first woman to lead the Moroccan Capital Market Authority (AMMC), overseeing the country’s financial markets. Her appointment was a significant step toward enhancing financial governance and attracting foreign investment to Morocco.
Hayat began her career at BNP Paribas in Spain before returning to Morocco, where she rose quickly through the ranks at the Casablanca Stock Exchange. She made history again by becoming the first woman on the board of a Moroccan bank. At AMMC, she played a key role in advancing Morocco’s green finance initiatives and aligning the country’s financial market with global standards.
In addition to her regulatory work, Hayat is a strong advocate for women’s leadership. She co-founded the Association des Femmes Chefs d’Entreprises du Maroc, which supports female entrepreneurs and business leaders. Recognized for her contributions, Hayat was honored as an Officer of the Order of the Throne in 2013.
With an MBA from ESSEC Business School, Hayat’s leadership continues to drive Morocco’s financial sector toward sustainability and greater gender inclusion.
