Maha Al-Ghunaim is a pioneering figure in finance, celebrated for her resilience and innovative approach to investment. She co-founded Global Investment House (GIH) in 1998, positioning it as one of Kuwait’s leading financial services firms. Her leadership helped GIH reach a significant milestone in 2008 when it became the first Kuwaiti company to list on the London Stock Exchange. However, this achievement coincided with the global financial crisis, which led to substantial losses and the company’s delisting.
Undeterred by these challenges, Al-Ghunaim stayed at the helm and oversaw a crucial restructuring process. Her strategic focus on strong investment strategies, risk management, and diversification was instrumental in GIH’s recovery. Under her leadership, the firm has regained its footing, managing approximately $3.6 billion in assets today.
A Mathematics graduate from San Francisco State University (1982), Al-Ghunaim’s analytical approach has been key to her success. Her journey has not only shaped the future of GIH but has also set a powerful example for future leaders in global finance.
