Marking International Women’s Day, Sheikha Mozah bint Marwan Al Maktoum, First Lieutenant Pilot at Dubai Police, visited the headquarters of Strata Manufacturing Company, an advanced UAE-based manufacturing company that produces composite structures for aircraft.
During her visit, Sheikha Mozah was briefed about the company’s efforts to support and empower women at the workplace and enhance emiratisation levels, which currently stands at 65% of the total workforce. Women constitute 88% of the Emirati workforce of the company.
Speaking during her tour of the facility, Sheikha Mozah said the UAE has many remarkable women role models who have set an example for other women with their leadership skills and professional accomplishments. Emirati women have demonstrated exceptional talent and skills in various fields and have the capabilities to deliver world-class excellence in diverse sectors, including those driven by innovation and advanced technology, she noted. “Guided by the vision and directives of our leadership, the UAE has achieved transformative leaps in various economic sectors and spheres of life. The nation’s progress and achievements are truly a source of pride for its people. Emirati women have played major roles in making the country a world-leader in several sectors,” Sheikha Mozah further said.
She said Strata has made vital contributions to the UAE’s efforts to become an important player in the world’s future-oriented sectors. The company has given women unique opportunities to demonstrate their abilities in a domain that requires high levels of technological and technical skills, professionalism and commitment to quality.
“Strata Manufacturing has set an example for other companies in empowering Emirati women and providing them opportunities to excel in the aviation sector. The company has an outstanding record of promoting women’s professional development and ensuring gender balance,” she said. The strength and capabilities of Strata Manufacturing’s women Emirati workforce have been instrumental in driving the company’s growth into a leading global supplier of aero-structure parts, she noted.
Sheikha Mozah first took to the skies at the age of 12 during a flight lesson in the UK. Her passion for flying blossomed over the years, and eventually landed her at the Oxford Aviation Academy when she was just 17. Her journey eventually led her to becoming not only the UAE’s first Emirati commercial female pilot but also the first woman to join the Dubai Police Air Wing as First Lieutenant Pilot.
Welcoming Sheikha Mozah, Ismail Ali Abdulla, the CEO of Strata Manufacturing, said she is an inspiring Emirati woman role model who has shown remarkable determination in making a mark in a traditionally male-dominated field. He said the company is committed to continuing its efforts to develop and empower the next generation of women Emirati leaders.
