An upcoming empowerment conference titled “Empowering Women and Their Developmental Role in the Era of King Salman” is set to bring together sixty participants from various governmental and private sectors to discuss the advancements made in enhancing the role of Saudi women in society. The event is scheduled to take place at Imam Mohammed bin Saud Islamic University on November 23, under the patronage of Princess Fahda bint Falah Al-Hithlain.
The conference aims to spotlight the positive impact of legislative reforms during King Salman’s era that have contributed to the empowerment of women and their pivotal role in aligning with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030. In recent years, the Kingdom has witnessed significant strides in empowering women, with women assuming leadership positions across diverse sectors and showcasing their capabilities in executive roles.Dr. Nouf Bint Abdul Aali Al-Ajmi, Deputy Rector of Imam Mohammed ibn Saud Islamic University for Female Student Affairs and chairwoman of the conference’s organizing committee, emphasized the importance of investing in women to achieve sustainable development. One of the key strategies of Vision 2030 involves increasing women’s representation in leadership roles through training and guidance.
The conference will explore themes related to women’s participation in education, training, decision-making, and leadership positions, in addition to the role of modern media in promoting women’s empowerment.Dr. Nuwair Al-Shammari, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Information and Communication at the university and chairwoman of the conference’s media committee, highlighted the university’s achievements in empowering women, in alignment with Vision 2030’s objectives. Notable progress includes an increase in women’s leadership positions, active participation in decision-making processes, and the introduction of new specializations for female students. The university has also expanded postgraduate programs for female students and implemented quality training initiatives to develop women leaders.Dr. Nasrin Al-Sayari, Vice President of the conference’s organizing committee, emphasized the university’s commitment to women’s empowerment through the development of the King Abdullah City for Female Students, which has become a prominent academic and cultural hub in Riyadh.
The conference underscores Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts to promote gender equality and women’s active participation in various sectors, in alignment with the nation’s Vision 2030 goals.
