Eng. Heba Mohamed Emam: A Leading Environmental Advocate in the UAE

Heba Emam, Director of Environmental Consultancy at Al Dhabi Engineering and Environmental Consulting Company, a dedicated environmentalist and women's empowerment advocate

The world today is increasingly recognizing the significance of environmental sustainability, and Heba Emam stands in the midst of this progressive acknowledgement. As the Director of the Environmental consultancy at Al Dhabi Engineering and Environmental Consulting Company since November 2014 in Abu Dhabi, Heba has consistently led the charge in environmental initiatives, driving change and inspiring countless individuals along her journey.

With a background in agricultural sciences, she developed a profound understanding of the interconnection between human activities and nature. Her career took off when she served as an Inspector for the Egyptian Ministry of Supply from 2004. During this period, she gained invaluable insights into pressing issues such as waste management and treatment, a subject that would later become her primary focus.

Heba’s commitment to environmental causes is evident in her academic pursuits. She earned her bachelor’s degree in agricultural sciences from Cairo University, followed by a higher diploma in environmental sciences from Ain Shams University.  Her thirst for knowledge and her dedication to the environment culminated in a master’s degree in environmental sciences and industrial development, specializing in solid waste management and treatment, from Beni Suef University. She is also a Graduate of the Women’s Leadership Program from the National Training Academy (NTA) Egypt.

But Heba’s quest for knowledge didn’t stop there. She also completed numerous courses in climate change, carbon tax, circular and green economy from the United Nations Institute for Training and Research. Heba is also an article writer in the field of environment, women’s empowerment, green economy and sustainability, winning a creative writing award called the Master Mind Awards, UAE. She was selected amongst the environmental experts from the Environmental Agency Abu Dhabi (EAD), where she was honored by them. She is also the Environmental Ambassador for Remtech Europe in Italy from 2020 until now.

Heba’s impact extends beyond environmental concerns. Certified as a senior trainer by the General Syndicate of Human Development Trainers, she has used this expertise to empower women across various fields. Her work in women’s empowerment has been recognized on multiple platforms, including being honored by the Network of Arab Women Pioneers within the Forum of Inspiring Women Pioneers in Egypt.

Heba’s advocacy isn’t confined to her workplace or official titles. She founded the campaign “My Society is My Responsibility,” with the goal of raising environmental awareness not only in Abu Dhabi but also across the Arab world. She has completed courses in environmental sustainability and green economy from esteemed institutions like the UN Research Institute and the Asian Bank Institute in Japan.

Her work in environmental sustainability and women’s empowerment serves as an inspiration to all, proving that one person can indeed catalyze change on a global scale. As she continues to share her experiences, knowledge, and insights on social media, Heba ensures that her mission to raise environmental awareness resonates far and wide. Her tireless efforts contribute not only to the betterment of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi but also to a more sustainable and equitable world for all.
